PLOT :

In the European town of Cheesebridge, rumors abound that subterranean trolls known as Boxtrolls kidnap and kill young children. Pest exterminator Archibald Snatcher strikes a deal with Lord Portley-Rind, offering to exterminate every Boxtroll in exchange for membership in the White Hats, a group of cheese-loving aristocrats led by Lord Portley-Rind that serves as the town council.

In actuality, the Boxtrolls prove to be peaceful creatures, wearing cardboard boxes, who emerge from underground at night to scavenge through the trash for items they can use to make inventions. A baby boy named Eggs lives among them, cared for by a Boxtroll named Fish. As Eggs grows up over a period of ten years, he becomes dismayed over the disappearing Boxtrolls due to Snatcher's capture of them.

Lord Portley-Rind’s neglected daughter Winnie grows frustrated at being ignored and throws his white hat out a window. Leaving the house to retrieve it, she sees Eggs rummaging through trash with two Boxtrolls. Snatcher and his men chase the trio and capture Fish. Devastated, Eggs puts together a disguise and sneaks back up to the surface to find him. Eggs emerges in the midst of an annual fair to commemorate the disappearance of the Trubshaw Baby eleven years earlier – presumably kidnapped and killed by Boxtrolls. Disgusted by the town’s inaccurate portrayal of the creatures, he follows Winnie away from the fair. She recognizes him as the boy she saw the previous night and directs him to Snatcher’s headquarters, an abandoned factory.

Sneaking into the factory, Eggs finds Fish locked in a cage and frees him. Meanwhile, Snatcher holds a cheese tasting with his henchmen, Mr. Gristle, Mr. Trout, and Mr. Pickles, as preparation for becoming a White Hat, disregarding his severe allergy toward cheese that causes grotesque swelling. Eggs and Fish try to sneak out of the factory only to be caught by Mr. Gristle. Snatcher recognizes Eggs as the Trubshaw Baby and reveals that all the captured Boxtrolls are still alive and building a machine. Winnie overhears this exchange, having followed Eggs to the factory. They and Fish escape from Snatcher and take shelter in the Boxtrolls’ underground cavern.

Winnie is surprised to learn the truth about the Boxtrolls, and convinces Eggs that he is not one of them. His father had given him to them as a baby in order to keep him safe from Snatcher. Winnie agrees to help Eggs tell Portley-Rind the truth. At a ball that night, held to commemorate the purchase of a giant cheese wheel, Eggs tries to confront Portley-Rind. He narrowly avoids capture by a disguised Snatcher, but inadvertently knocks the cheese down the stairs so that it rolls into a river. Eggs announces himself to the crowd as the Trubshaw Baby, but no one believes him and Lord Portley-Rind throws him out in a fury over losing his beloved cheese.

Eggs returns to the cavern and tries to persuade the remaining Boxtrolls that they need to flee for their own safety. Snatcher digs into the cavern using his machine, captures the entire group, and takes them back to the factory. Eggs, imprisoned in a cage in the basement, awakens to find his real father, Herbert Trubshaw - captured years ago by Snatcher and held prisoner ever since - hanging upside down next to him. He sees the Boxtrolls stacked in a crusher and begs them to run, but the crusher activates and flattens all the boxes.

Snatcher drives his machine to Lord Portley-Rind’s house, shows him the flattened boxes as proof of the Boxtrolls’ deaths, and demands Portley-Rind’s white hat once he kills the last one (actually Eggs dressed up as a Boxtroll). Winnie persuades Mr. Trout and Mr. Pickles, who initially believed that their actions were justified due to the infamous reputation of the Boxtrolls, to redeem themselves by not killing Eggs. The Boxtrolls suddenly arrive with Herbert, having sneaked out of their boxes just before the crusher activated, and free Eggs. An infuriated Snatcher tries to take Portley-Rind’s hat by force, but Eggs, Herbert, and the Boxtrolls disable the machine. Eggs and Snatcher are thrown clear and land on the giant cheese wheel, freshly fished out of the river. Snatcher swells into a hideous giant and forces Lord Portley-Rind to give up his hat in exchange for Winnie's safety. Snatcher triumphantly enters the cheese tasting room, but unconcerned about his allergy, explodes after taking one bite of a rare cheese.

The townspeople no longer see the Boxtrolls as monsters and come to live peacefully with them. Winnie tells the tale of Snatcher's end to a crowd of people, while Eggs and Fish drive off in one of Herbert’s contraptions.

PLOT :
Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is a retired black ops government operative who lives in Boston, Massachusetts and works at a Home Mart hardware store, where he befriends many of his co-workers and also tries to help a security guard trainee named Ralphie pass his qualification exam. McCall has promised his recently deceased wife that he'd leave his old life behind, but is compelled to act after his teenage friend Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz) whose real name is Alina, was seen being mistreated by her pimp. Alina's life was destroyed at the age of five or six when she was a victim of sex trafficking by the Russian Mafia and then became their sex slave and forced into prostitution.

Robert vows to save her after she is hospitalized after being brutally beaten by her pimp, Slavi (David Meunier). McCall enters a restaurant owned by the Russian mob and tries to convince Slavi to release Alina by paying him $9800, but Slavi refuses. McCall pretends to walk away, but turns back and takes out Slavi and his men with their own weapons, removing the footage from all the security cameras.

In retaliation, Vladimir Pushkin (Vladimir Kulich) sends his enforcer Teddy (Marton Csokas) to Boston to find and eliminate the culprit. Meanwhile, Ralph withdraws his application for being a security guard at Home Mart to help out his mother at his family restaurant, which was set on fire by corrupt policemen as an act of extortion. McCall confronts the corrupt policemen and forces them to pay back all the money they have gotten through extortion. Ralph passes his test and becomes a security guard at Home Mart.

Teddy determines McCall is the culprit; surprised by his skills, Teddy tries to capture him to use those skills instead of killing him. McCall, however, outsmarts his pursuers and escapes, while completing more acts of vigilantism. McCall visits fellow retired operatives Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) and Brian Plummer (Bill Pullman) in Virginia, who help him acquire intelligence on Pushkin's activities. It is revealed that Teddy is ex-Spetnaz, and that his real name is Nikolai. After McCall leaves, Susan remarks to Brian that McCall was not actually looking for help, but was actually asking for permission.

McCall then captures Frank Masters (David Harbour), a corrupt Boston policeman who has been aiding Teddy, by trapping him in his car and threatening to flood the vehicle with carbon monoxide. Frank relents and helps McCall destroy one of Pushkin's money laundering operations in Boston. Later, McCall confronts Teddy at dinner; McCall pledges to bring Pushkin's empire down, and soon destroys a container ship used by Pushkin to smuggle goods. Unsatisfied with Teddy's lack of progress and his increasing monetary losses, Pushkin warns Teddy he can either kill McCall or not come home to Moscow.

In retaliation, Teddy and his men attack Home Mart and take Ralph and the workers of Home Mart hostage, threatening to kill them if he does not surrender. McCall enters the store and disables most of the lighting, tells Ralph to get the hostages to safety, and then kills Teddy's henchmen one by one. After a struggle between McCall and one of Teddy's men, Ralph comes back to help McCall, but is shot in the leg. McCall tells Ralph to turn on the electricity after an exact time of 40 seconds. McCall sets up a number of chemicals in a microwave; the electricity turns it on, causing an explosion that kills the last of Teddy's men. McCall finally kills Teddy with a nail gun.

McCall then travels to Moscow and kills Pushkin's guards, and sets up an electrical trap to kill Pushkin himself. McCall returns to Boston, where he reunites with Alina, who has recovered from her wounds and thanks him for giving her a second chance. McCall is inspired to continue using his skills to help people in need and posts an online ad, identifying himself as "The Equalizer". He soon receives another plea for help and agrees to answer it.

PLOT :
A sixteen-year-old boy (Dylan O'Brien) wakes up inside a rusty elevator called The Box. When he arrives at the top, he is greeted by other boys in a grassy clearing called the Glade, which is surrounded by tall, gray walls. The boy is unable to remember anything about himself, but Alby (Aml Ameen), the leader of the Glade, tells him that it's happened to everyone and that he would remember his name soon. He shows him the Glade and how it is entirely run by the Gladers, as they call themselves. The boy wonders what is beyond the opening in the wall adjacent to the Glade, but he is warned not to go through there, as it is a maze. The boy meets Chuck (Blake Cooper), and the two become friends.

There is a party that night to welcome the newest arrival. Every month, The Box sends up a new person and supplies. Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), second in command and gardener, explains that the Maze is the only way out. The most able Gladers become Runners, who are the only ones allowed into the Maze. They search for an escape route during the day, but return before nightfall, as the Maze entrance closes at dusk, and no one has ever survived a night in the Maze. The boy ends up in a fight with a boy named Gally (Will Poulter), during which he suddenly remembers his name: Thomas.

While Thomas is gathering supplies in the woods, he is viciously attacked by Ben (Chris Sheffield), a Runner, who has been stung by a Griever - deadly monsters that lurk in the maze. The Gladers force Ben into the Maze to die. Minho (Ki Hong Lee), a runner, and Alby attempt to retrace Ben's steps in the maze, but Alby is stung and rendered unconscious. Minho appears at dusk, dragging Alby, but is unable to reach the entrance in time. Seeing this, Thomas runs into the maze. Minho and Thomas survive the night, with Thomas successfully killing a Griever, and they return the next day with Alby to the astonishment of the other Gladers.

Gally, upset that the fragile peace between the Gladers and the Grievers may be in jeopardy, proposes punishing Thomas for entering the maze, though Newt overrules him and makes Thomas a Runner. Thomas accompanies Minho and a few others into the maze. They find the Griever's corpse and remove a beeping mechanical part, discovering that it is numbered to correspond to a certain section in the maze. The Box sends up the first ever girl, who apparently recognizes Thomas. A note in her hand says she'll be "the last one ever". The girl, named Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), carries two syringes filled with a blue-colourish mysterious substance. The Gladers use one on Alby, and he gradually recovers from his sting, as well as his memories.

Minho and Thomas venture into the section of the maze on the Griever's part, discovering an escape route. They barely make it back after being forced to retreat, and inform the others. That night, a wave of Grievers pour in from the walls and attack the Gladers, killing a cured Alby, among many others. Thomas stabs himself in the leg with a severed sting and remembers that he and Teresa were part of the organization that created the maze, and that all of this was a test. Gally blames Thomas and Teresa for everything and attempts to execute them. The Gladers stop him, and most of them follow Thomas through the maze's escape route. They end up in a lab with the dead bodies of scientists strewn everywhere. A video recording of a woman plays, explaining that the planet has been destroyed by increased solar activity, followed by an pandemic. The youths in the Glade were all part of an experiment researching their apparent resistance to the pandemic. At the end of the recording, she shoots herself in the head as the lab is attacked. Gally then appears, delirious from being stung and seeking revenge on Thomas. He fires a gun at Thomas, but Minho kills Gally with a spear. Chuck is killed by Gally's shot. Masked men rush in to take the group away to safety, with Gally watching before falling unconscious. The maze is revealed to be in a vast desert. The dead scientists appear alive, stating that the experiment has been a success, and the survivors are now entering Phase Two.

PLOT :

Sawyer, the boy who was once instrumental in saving "Winter" three years ago, is now an integral employee at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and is training new volunteers at the aquarium. We are introduced to a new dolphin named "Mandy." Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) has rescued Mandy after she was stranded near a beach and discovered by a little girl. Mandy has a bad sunburn and some respiratory problems from being stranded in the sun too long with her blowhole mostly exposed. She is being rehabilitated at the aquarium.

Winter has a friend at CMA named Panama. Like Winter, Panama cannot return to the ocean. Panama is deaf and is quite old for a dolphin. She is expected to be at least 40 years old. It is alluded to that Panama has some health issues and it appears by Winter's erratic actions that she is concerned about her dolphin friend. Sawyer is approached by a professor from Boston University about attending an elite SEA Semester program for three months. Only one high school student per year is selected for this program, which takes place on a tall sailing ship and focuses on marine mammal research. It comes with a full scholarship and his family is excited for him to have this opportunity. Sawyer is unsure whether he wants to go, as he is concerned about leaving Winter for an extended period of time.

When Sawyer returns to the aquarium, Panama is lying dead at the bottom of the pool. Her death happened very quickly, but does not come as a complete surprise because of her old age. All employees of CMA are very upset. However, the death is the hardest on Winter. Winter stops eating much and refuses to wear her prosthetic tail. Her health starts to deteriorate for these reasons and tests show she is under stress. An inspector for the USDA comes to visit CMA and check on the animals. He gives Dr. Clay a violation for keeping Winter in isolation and because of her deteriorating health. He issues as requirement that Dr. Clay matches Winter with another female dolphin within 30 days. In the meantime, Winter continues to be very unhappy. When Sawyer attempts to get her out of the tank for a new cast of her tail, Winter becomes aggressive and smacks Sawyer across the face with her rostrum, knocking him in the water. Phoebe jumps in the pool and rescues Sawyer. Winter then returns to floating at the bottom of the platform. The incident leaves Sawyer's wrist injured, and a small bruise on his face. Dr. Clay orders that Sawyer has to take a break from swimming with Winter.

Everyone at CMA stakes their hopes on Winter being paired together with Mandy in order to satisfy the USDA and improve Winter's health. However, Mandy has improved greatly and has a clean bill of health. Dr. Clay says Mandy can be returned to the ocean. Dr. Clay's daughter Hazel is unhappy because she doesn't want Winter to be transferred. She wants Mandy to stay with Winter for a short period of time to keep her from being transferred, even though she can return to the ocean. Dr. Clay makes clear that the goal of CMA is "Rescue, Rehabilitate, Release", thus they cannot morally keep Mandy when she could return to the ocean. He has to make the call to return Mandy to the ocean, even though it becomes clear that doing so will cause CMA to lose Winter. Mandy is returned to the ocean and Hazel steps up to take a key role in her return.

Hazel and Sawyer break Dr. Clay's rule and swim with Winter. The dolphin seems improved and is no longer aggressive. Sawyer and Hazel think she is improving. Dr. Clay then catches them and scold them for swimming with Winter. Knowing he has bigger problems, he changes the subject and tells Hazel and Sawyer that Winter will be transferred to a marine park in Texas. Meanwhile, Sawyer's mom throws a party for him to congratulate him for being chosen to attend SEA Semester. However she wants to push him towards a decision but Sawyer is still too upset about Winter. While Sawyer is sitting outside, Dr. McCarthy sits next to him and gives him a small clock, but due to it sitting around for many years, it requires tapping to continue. Dr. McCarthy uses this as an example and tells Sawyer that he has to "shake it up now and then" and try other things in life.

During the party, Dr. Clay gets a call. A juvenile female dolphin has been rescued and is headed to the hospital. (The hospital shown on screen is not the actual one used by the CMA. The producers used the hospital on film because of its more Floridian look. Though in real life Morton Plant Hospital one of the BayCare facilities was and is still the only hospital group the CMA uses.) Everyone leaves the party and rushes to CMA to prepare for the arriving dolphin. Dr. Clay, Sawyer, Hazel and the trainers know this is the hope to keep Winter at CMA. When the dolphin arrives, it is revealed to be very young and can not return to the ocean since it has not learned to hunt yet. They name the tiny dolphin "Hope." As a humorous side note to the main story, the team also rescues a sea turtle who was stuck some fishing line. A pesky pelican named Rufus seems obsessed with this sea turtle named Mavis. Rufus follows the sea turtle everywhere, even to a hospital for humans where he gets a CT Scan. When Mavis is released into the ocean, Rufus flies over him as the sea turtle swims away.

Dr. Clay gets an extension to keep Winter from being transferred with the addition of Hope at CMA. The first time they put the two dolphins together, Hope's echolocation senses that Winter has no tail and moves differently. This causes Hope to go ballistic and swim at high speeds around the pool. Winter then lashes out at Hope, though it doesn't injure her. The employees then quickly separate the animals.

Dr. McCarthy designed another prosthetic tail for Winter that looks even more realistic than her previous tail. In their second meeting, Winter wears the tail. The two dolphins get along. Everyone rejoices that Winter will get to stay at CMA now that she has a friend (And sister) and will no longer be isolated and lonely. With Winter's improvement, Sawyer decides to go to go to the SEA Semester. Hazel releases balloons for him as he leaves and tells him how much she will miss him.

Before the credits roll, actual footage of Mandy's release, Hope's rescue, and a sea turtle's release is shown. Footage of amputees interacting with Winter is shown as well.
